My Window Fell Into Truck Door

My window fell into truck door.

Duct tape and plastic. With age the window regulators that hold your window in place can fail causing your window to fall down into the door of the vehicle. Just as rivets or the regulator can wear down and break over time the control arm can break as well. A mechanic will remove the door panel to identify any broken system components.

Automotive windows use a control arm and guide regulator to raise and lower a pane of glass into the door either manually or with an electric motor. Not only is your vehicle left unsecured it s at risk for critters and water to get in. When a car window falls into the door it can be a real problem. Then pop the door panel off using a thin sturdy tool like a crowbar.

To fix an off track window start by removing the screws and bolts holding the car door panel in place. Did it make a weird noise and then fall into the door. With the door interior exposed use your hand to slide the window down to the bottom of the window channel as far as it will go. When the pane of glass works its way out of the regulator it can fall into the door.

That s a great indication that you re in need of a regulator repair. Over time the rivets that attach your windowpane to the regulator can wear and break causing the window to fall inside your door. Window is dislodged from the regulator.
